Will There Be a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra? What We Know About the Fold Series
It's an exciting new era for foldable phone lovers. Many are paving the way in traditional phone innovation. They can offer truly groundbreaking specs across the board. And one series is the ultimate pioneer: the Galaxy Z Fold series.
The latest outing is the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This is a fold phone packed with impressive features. But it hasn't stopped some Samsung fans from wondering, will Samsung finally release a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra? After all, there are plenty of other Samsung "Ultras". The Galaxy S25 Ultra, the Galaxy Tab Ultra. The time may have come for Samsung to wow us with an Ultra foldable.
It might not be so simple. Today, we’re going over all the latest Galaxy Z Fold news to discover if, and how, a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra could come about.
The Current Landscape: Samsung’s “Ultra” Strategy
The “Ultra” label is nothing new. Samsung has been releasing premium versions for a while now - and across supported Samsung Galaxy devices. You might be familiar with the:
-
Galaxy S25 Ultra - this has a 6.9” expansive screen (compared to 6.2” on the S25), not to mention a better camera and immersive 1440p display (compared to 1080p). There's also an included S Pen stylus.
-
Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra - this tablet has a huge 14.6” display (compared to 12.4”), as well as dual front cameras and an 11,200mAh battery, plus 1TB of storage.
“Ultra” in the Samsung ecosystem, then, means "premium". In short:
-
Advanced specs
-
Advanced armor aluminium frame
-
Better camera tech
-
Expansive screen
-
More storage
-
Lightning-fast internet connection
However, Samsung connoisseurs might have noticed something: despite seven generations, there is still no Galaxy Z Ultra series. Neither the Galaxy Z Flip or Galaxy Z Fold series have their own “premium” models.
That’s certainly not for lack of interest. Samsung lovers have been asking if the Fold 7 finally herald Ultra foldables ever since the Fold 7 came out in July 2025.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7: Where We Stand

The Samsung Fold 7 is the most popular Fold model so far (if not the most popular foldable phone). Users are still enjoying the foldable phone series, which proves, for now, it’s not just a fad.
And the Fold 7 has brought Samsung’s foldable phone line to a whole new level. Specs on the most advanced available model (1TB) include:
-
8.0" 2184 x 1968 display with 16M color depth.
-
Five advanced cameras for incredibly detailed pics, including two camera hole punch options and a 200MP wide lens rear camera.
-
16GB memory with 1TB storage.
-
4400.0mAh battery capacity.
-
High-speed internet connection options.
These are already extremely advanced specs. Especially for a foldable phone. In fact, few other foldable phone lines are even competing right now.
That said, from what we know about other Ultra variations from different product lines, what could we expect from a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra were Samsung to release one? Well, here’s our best guess:
-
Refined design - we might expect a thinner hinge and lighter body. We could probably include a more flexible cover screen, too.
-
Display tech - look out for a brighter inner screen and improved durability with advanced armor aluminium frame.
-
Advanced cameras - Fold 7’s cameras are already great, especially for a foldable phone. However, we would probably see more advanced specs.
-
Battery improvements - longer battery life would probably be a must.
-
AI integration - there may be more in-built AI features on any potential Galaxy Z Fold 7 model.
-
S Pen - could Samsung manage to incorporate a handy stylus like on the S25 Ultra?
Pricing
There might not be a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra yet. However, there are other Ultra models. Their various prices can tell us a lot:
-
The Samsung Galaxy S25 starts at $799.99 and the Ultra version comes in at $1,299.99.
-
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE costs $429.99 and The Tab S10 Ultra is priced at $1,199.99.
There’s generally a $500+ difference between standard and Ultra models. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is currently priced at $1,999.99 (for the cheapest 256GB model). We can assume any Ultra version would then cost at least $2,499.99. That’s steep by anyone’s estimation.
But this holds an important point: it seems Samsung is focussing on making foldables more mainstream rather than ultra-premium. At least for now. Introducing a $2,000+ foldable phone is not necessarily the best move when people can buy an iPhone 17 for less than $1,000.
Will There Be a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra?
There are currently no confirmed plans for a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra. Sorry to break it to you. “Why?”, you might well ask. Well, for a few reasons:
-
Product segmentation - the Galaxy Fold 7 Ultra already sits well within the usual “Ultra” price point. The cheapest model is already $700 more than the S25 Ultra, for example. This makes it hard to carve out a market niche for a Galaxy Z Fold Ultra series.
-
Technical challenges - there are also some simple technical hurdles that come with the territory with foldable phones. There’s less internal space. Everything has to work around a hinge. Weight can be an issue. To make a Fold 7 Ultra, Samsung will have to get to work.
-
Market strategy - just 1% of phone owners have a foldable phone. That number is growing, but it’s still not enough to justify an Ultra series. Samsung knows this. Don't forget: premium versions cost a lot to produce. They might wait for foldable tech to improve before they really dive in..
Samsung is focussed on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 for now. This next gen is set to release in July 2026. We can expect improved battery life and smarter AI features. It may not be an Ultra, but it might well feel like one!
The Future of Foldable Phones
Samsung didn't invent the foldable phone. They were the first, however, to produce a truly usable one. Since 2019 they’ve definitely held the niche, at least in terms of foldable smartphones.
However, things are changing. Other major competitors are investing in foldable phone tech. Top models now include:
-
OnePlus Open
-
Honor Magic V
This competition is driving innovation. And that innovation may well get rid of the problems that have been holding foldable phones back. Users want:
-
Slimmer designs.
-
More portability.
-
Longer battery life.
-
Stronger cover screen.
-
Better cameras.
So, Samsung essentially has two options moving forward: a dual-path strategy (like they have with the S series) of a Fold plus Fold Ultra version, or wait until foldables become the default flagship form to work on an Ultra series. Only time will tell which way they’ll go!
Where Galaxy Z Is For Now
There aren’t any official plans for a Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be a Fold Ultra variant some day in the future. Samsung is working hard to make foldable phones mainstream. There may well come a day when we can all enjoy premium-spec Fold phones at a lower price point!
